Individual Lessons
Functional Integration lessons (FI)
Tailored to your specific needs to help you find a more comfortable and wider range of movement promoting strength and suppleness
Each lesson revolves around a question: How do your habits of movement help you, but at the same time stand in the way of doing better?
In a typical lesson, we discuss this, then you lie fully-clothed on a low table as the teacher's hands gently support you, suggesting, encouraging and guiding you towards new ways of moving and organising yourself.
Each lesson is unique and designed for you to address your particular habits of moving and holding yourself. Your increasing self-awareness enables you to let go of these habits, to find and choose new patterns of movement; you may find similar development in the flexibility of your thinking and feeling.
The lesson will often lead to suggestions for ways of working on your own, in order to help the new choices become a lasting part of your life. Lessons are particularly useful for specific or long-standing problems, to deepen your experience of Awareness Through Movement classes, or to provide ongoing support for your everyday life.

In-person Workshops
Like the weekly classes but longer giving us time to explore the theme in more depth
Confidence and Stability — focus on Knees
Saturday 17 January 2026
10 — 1 pm £70
West London Buddhist Centre
45a Porchester Road London W2 5DP
As requested at the last workshop our mission will be to explore what makes the functioning of our knees better.
In their "diplomatic" role of mediating between feet and pelvis, knees do their job best when they can be soft and mobile with capacity for full bending and straightening.
A stiff knee is unstable. If you've ever had one you will know this sensation all too well.
As ever the effects of the workshop will be particular to you yet global in the sense of giving you (or returning to you) a sense of physical and emotional ease, stability and confidence.
You are likely to feel this in standing, walking, climbing stairs, cycling, sitting to standing — you name it!
Here's feedback from a recent workshop:
"... it was that strange movement on my back with my hands on the opposite knees that made the difference. I was baffled...
Overnight, somehow, my brain has worked this out, and this morning the movement is simple and smooth.
My balance is much improved.
There is a subtle change in the way my weight transfers across my pelvis from one leg to the other as I walk.
A change I cannot put into words, but which has taken all the strain away from my left knee.
Walking has gone from unstable and anxious to easy and relaxed." Carol
"Honestly, Sophie’s workshops are better than drugs. Good ones! I emerge with my body and mind open to the world, feeling content and positive. Once I got over the slightly wide-eyed and jelly legs sensation at the end of 3 hours, I feel so grounded and am able to step out with purpose into the rest of my day"

Testimonials
‘I've been taking weekly Feldenkrais classes with Sophie for about 2 years now, and from my first class I was hooked. The classes themselves are fun, enjoyable, and interesting. Sophie's style brings lightness and humour to our learning, a very powerful combination.
I find the weekly class leaves me feeling positive, and mindful in a way that nothing else does. I call it my meditation class, as I leave feeling peaceful, and fully present in the moment. It’s gold!’
Victoria
‘I've had more movement in my neck after four lessons of Feldenkrais than I've had for twenty years.’
Janice
‘Since starting Feldenkrais classes with Sophie I have noticed a real change in myself. After the class I often feel re-energized so I can go home and get loads more done than I normally can, I also frequently feel more content after a Feldenkrais class with Sophie. It feels as if anything that has been troubling me just washes off me. I don’t know how this works but it is amazing! When I first started doing Feldenkrais I would never have believed that doing small movements lying on the floor for an hour or so could make such a big difference to me, but it certainly has. I think no matter who you are doing Feldenkrais classes can benefit you. It has also helped me to become more aware of my body and to be more self-aware generally.’
